Ramiz Aliguliyev, the Head of Department at the Institute of Information Technology under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Corresponding Member of ANAS, has been put forward for the UNESCO-Uzbekistan Beruniy Prize because of his important work in studying Artificial Intelligence and its ethical issues.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of ANAS and Director-General of the Institute, announced the news at a meeting of the Institute's Scientific Council. The academic noted that, according to a letter received from the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the candidacy of Ramiz Aliguliyev, a Corresponding Member of ANAS recognized for his high achievements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), was proposed for this prize.
Academic Rasim Alguliyev provided information on the scientific activity of Corresponding Member of ANAS Ramiz Aliguliyev, stating that his research in the field of AI is highly valued by the international scientific community. Thus, since 2020, his name has been consistently included in Stanford University's “The World Top 2% Scientists List” annually in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The Vice-President of ANAS added that R. Aliguliyev Corresponding Member of ANAS, conducts research in topical scientific areas, including Artificial Intelligence, data mining, big data analytics, deep learning, and evolutionary and swarm intelligence algorithms. He also serves as the Director of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Institute at Azerbaijan Technical University.
It should be noted that the main objective of the Beruniy Prize is to evaluate the activities of individuals, institutions, and organizations that have made significant contributions to science through research on Artificial Intelligence and its ethical implications. It is stipulated that each of the three prize-winners (an individual, an institution, and an organization) will be awarded a monetary prize of $30,000.
