The following seminar was held at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS. The event was opened by the director of the institute, acad. Rasim Alguliyev. The seminar was devoted to the discussion of the thesis of the candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Sakina Aghazadeh in "12.03.01 - Computer Science".

S.Aghazadeh presented her thesis on the "Study of information systems and technologies in the management of medical institutions". The main objective of the thesis is to study the impact of information systems and technologies in the medical processes and the management of healthcare sector, and to present relevant recommendations, she said. To achieve these goals the features and quality of health care and treatment facilities were identified, a new model was offered for evaluating the performance of these enterprises.

S.Aghazadeh touched upon expected results, scientific and practical importance of the research, and noted that as the model was developed basing on the ISO standard, it is applicable in any kind of health and treatment systems.

The reporter gave detailed information about the main factors for the ICT application specified by the World Health Organization, investigating the data on the patients and the hospitals, healthcare service indicators, forecasting the market of medical information technologies in advanced countries, and other issues.

Doctors of Technical Sciences Ramiz Aliguliyev and Masuma Mammadova, PhDs Rashid Alakbarov, Yadigar Imamverdiyev, Vugar Musayev, Zarifa Jabrayilova,  Shafagat Mahmudova, Bikas Aghayev, Makrufa Hajirahimova, Associate professor Alovsat Aliyev, head of department Sayyar Abdullayev and others took part in the discussions, and expressed their suggestions and comments.

Finally, taking into account the comments, S.Aghazadeh’s dissertation  was decided to be submitted for discussion at the next stage.
