AI Bina48 teaches a philosophy course at West Point military academy

In the US, a robot lecture on philosophy was given to students. Android Bina48 was the first mechanical teacher who conducted a joint lesson with a real professor.

Experimental lesson was held at the US Military Academy. Robot’s partner was Professor William Barry. He has been working with Bina48 for several years and decided to introduce the robot to real students.

The purpose of the experiment is to check whether artificial intelligence can become a full-fledged teacher and conduct a lecture so that the material is clear and interesting for students.

The humanoid robot held two lectures on the course of moral philosophy. This discipline covers ethical reasoning, the theory of a just war and the use of AI in society. About one hundred students attended the class.

During the lectures, the robot was not connected to the Internet and used only previously downloaded data. Bina48 not only spoke in a monologue mode, but also answered students' questions.

According to Professor Barry, the students were interested in a lecture. They listened carefully and recorded the material.

However, despite the warm welcome of the students, they decided not to use the robot as a teacher, as the pace of work of Bina48 was too slow for students.
