A meeting dedicated to cooperation between the Institute of Information Technology and the Baku European Lyceum took place

At the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, a meeting was held with a group of schoolchildren of the Baku European Lyceum. The meeting was attended by the deputy director of the lyceum Rahila Aliyarzade, the teaching staff, as well as the vice president of ANAS, director of the institute, academician Rasim Alguliyev, heads of department  and young scientists.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that the main purpose of the meeting with schoolchildren is to increase the interest of schoolchildren in science.

R. Alguliyev informed that ANAS made a significant contribution to the integration of world science, the achievement of important scientific achievements, attracting young people to science, emphasizing that one of the main priorities of the Academy is the integration of science and education. The scientist noted that for this, Olympiads for youth were organized and various scientific and technical projects were implemented. The director of the institute expressed confidence that interactive work with students of the lyceum, to increase interest in science, will be a great success. He noted that within the framework of this cooperation, the Institute’s staff, undergraduates, as well as members of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists will help schoolchildren expand their knowledge and skills in the field of ICT.

Then, speaking the deputy director of the lyceum,  Rahila Aliyarzade, emphasized that their lyceum is one of the country's leading educational institutions with its achievements in the field of ICT and added that one of the main priorities of the educational policy of Azerbaijan is the expansion of the use of ICT in education.

According to her, the Baku European Lyceum in 2017 received the name "E-School" and was a member of the international project of UNESCO "ICT in Education", "Algorithmics", as well as the III Robot Olympiad in Azerbaijan. In 2019, a two-month pilot project on online mathematics and learning English was implemented for high school students based on the NISAI Learning Cambridge program.

She noted the active use of interactive teaching methods in the Lyceum, emphasizing that information and communication technologies are gradually being introduced into the educational process.

R. Aliyarzade noted that the main goal of establishing cooperation with the Institute of Information Technologies is to reveal the intellectual and creative potential of gifted children and the development of their personality.

Later, the laboratory assistant of the Institute, Yusif Imamverdiyev, presented a list of projects presented at the IX Republican contest "Scientists of Tomorrow", as part of the IFEF International Scientific and Technical Exhibition, which will be held on February 11-13, 2020.
