At the next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Information Technology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dedicated to the 2025 reports of its structural units, the report of the department conducting research on e-science development and scientometrics was delivered. The report was presented by Ramiz Aliguliyev, Corresponding Member of ANAS and Head of the Department.
The scientist first provided an overview of the scientific topics under investigation. He noted that research is being conducted on the scientific, methodological, and practical issues related to the integration of e-science and e-education on the “Industry 4.0” platform. The Head of the Department emphasized that the research focuses on the development prospects of the e-science and e-education environment in response to the challenges of digital development, as well as on the formation and advancement of AI-based innovations within this environment.
Ramiz Aliguliyev noted that the department is conducting research on the application of Industry 4.0 solutions in citizen science projects. According to the scholar, within the framework of the research, the application of deep learning methods in citizen science problems characterized by big data was studied, including an examination of the potential impact of citizen science in the fields of digital and sustainable development.
The Head of the Department also reported that, this year, research was carried out as part of a dissertation on “Development of Methods and Algorithms for Evaluating Certain Indicators of Scientific Activity.” He emphasized that in this area, a comparative analysis of methods for evaluating researchers’ scientific activities has been carried out, and a method for multi-criteria assessment has been developed.
The scientist also provided information on articles and theses published by department employees during the reporting period in journals indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, and other international scientific databases; in scientific publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission; and at national and international conferences.
Corresponding Member of ANAS, Ramiz Aliguliyev, also spoke about the work carried out by the department staff in the areas of scientific-practical and innovative activities, scientific expertise and organizational work, pedagogical activity, participation in grant projects, training of scientific personnel, as well as the promotion and popularization of science.
Speaking on the report, Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of ANAS and Director General of the Institute, emphasized the need to identify new scientific problems within the department and to restructure the activities of the structural unit in line with the calls of the country’s leadership in the context of new realities. The scientist emphasized the importance of further strengthening the department’s scientific activities and put forward a number of proposals and recommendations in this regard.
By decision of the Scientific Council, the department’s scientific activity for 2025 was considered satisfactory.
