Employees of the institute gave an interview to AZTV’s “Telesahar” program – VIDEO

Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of ANAS and Director General of the Institute of Information Technology; Ramiz Aliguliyev, Head of Department and Corresponding Member of ANAS; and Babek Nabiyev, Head of the AzScienceNet Network Operation Center and PhD in Technical Sciences, gave an interview to AZTV’s “Telesahar” program. During the interview, the scientists discussed artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cyber sovereignty, providing information about the measures being implemented in the country in these areas.

In his speech, Academician Rasim Alguliyev emphasized that in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital technologies have become an integral part of daily life, and the development of information security and artificial intelligence technologies is one of the main priorities of state policy. He spoke about the establishment of reliable and sustainable mechanisms to counter cyber threats both from abroad and within the country, as well as the importance of ensuring the cyber sovereignty of the digital government platform.

Ramiz Aliguliyev, Corresponding Member of ANAS, addressed various aspects of ensuring cyber sovereignty. He noted that maintaining sovereignty in the digital environment primarily depends on ensuring data sovereignty. He also stressed that achieving cyber sovereignty critically relies on training highly qualified personnel, establishing reliable data centers, and developing supercomputing capabilities.

In his speech, Babek Nabiyev, PhD in Technical Sciences, highlighted the importance of the President’s Decree on the “Information Security and Cybersecurity Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2023–2027.” He stated that the document assigns significant responsibilities to both state institutions and scientists and experts. He also emphasized that, in the context of emerging challenges, it is essential to apply a comprehensive and unified approach to cybersecurity.
