Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, participated in the international conference "Terena Networking Conference" TNC19 held in Tallinn, Estonia, on 16-20 June 2019 and GEANT Association General Assembly meetings.
TNC is the largest and most prestigious European research and education networking conference. Ranging from security strategies, national ICT policies and the role of community, the TNC19 programme covers a wide variety of inspiring topics by renowned experts in their fields. In addition, a variety of community meetings and interactive workshops will surround the conference’s 21 sessions throughout the week.
Tural Mustafayev, chief specialist of the Department No.4 also participated in the TNC19. He participated in a number of technical lectures within the conference, seminars on development, implementation problems and safety of GEANT's "EduGAIN", "EduVPN", "Federation Identity" and was acquainted with the activities of the working groups. In addition, at the meeting with the representatives of "Xantaro" the technical parameters of the equipment to be purchased within the framework of the EaPConnect project and the work to be done were discussed.
GÉANT includes 36 National Members, which are European national research and education network (NREN) organisations. At the GEANT Association and its partner projects, Azerbaijan is represented by the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS with the official support of the relevant state agencies (the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, Ministry of Education and Science).
The European Commission has decided to finance the EaPConnect (Eastern Partnership Connect) project to establish a regional network of research and education that connects Eastern Partnership countries with the initiative and coordination of the GEANT Association and to foster the joining of these countries to Europe's electronic science infrastructure. The main objective of the project is to integrate the national research and education networks (NRENs) in the region into the pan-European GÉANT network, decrease the digital divide and facilitate the participation of local scientists, students and academics in global R&E collaborations.
The Institute of Information Technology closely cooperates with the GEANT Association and the structure of AzScienceNet, a national R&E network has been developed recently. Presently, all the scientific institutions and organizations of the National Academy of Sciences are provided with advanced network technologies and services through the AzScienceNet electronic infrastructure.
