15 March 2019 - 12:00 | Conferences, assemblies

Next scientific seminar of Department №5 was held at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS.

Sabina Fomenko, an employee of the Institute, spoke about the structure, processes, advantages of terminology management and the problems of "unmanaged" terminology. Terminology Management is a set of activities that ensures correct terms are used consistently in all materials.

Nowadays, terminology is managed with the help of software.

She presented the terminology management structure. Talking about the advantages of terminology management, an employee of the institute noted that it consists of the processes of proposing, checking, describing, adding other languages, approving, publishing and updating.

Then S. Fomenko spoke about the problems created by the lack of a terminology management strategy. She stressed that there are differences in terms without tools and processes that allow the consistent use of terms approved by various participants in the external communications market, as well as the terminological incompatibility of the text in the target language during collective translation of large projects.
