Head of Department of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, correspondent member of ANAS, doctor of technical sciences Ramiz Aliguliyev was in scientific mission at the Department of Computer Science of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) and at the Department of Applied Mathematics of Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain. The event was held within the grant project "Development of methods and algorithms for information security in the Big Data" of the Science Development Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Angel Juan (UOC), Albert Ferrer (UPC) and Adil Bagirov (Federation University Australia ) attended the first meeting at the Department of Computer Science. During the meeting, prof. A.Juan acquainted guests with the basic research spheres of the Department of History, Structure and Computer Science of the University.
R.Aliguliyev briefed on the structure, scientific potential and research directions of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS. The scientist talked about the issues and the work done within the grant project.
Prof. A. Juan made a summary report on "Methods of Metaheuristic and Evolution Optimization and Their Application to Different Spheres". Discussions focused on the possibilities and perspectives of applying metaheuristic and evolution algorithms to large-scale optimization (mainly nonlinear and full-number optimization) issues. It was noted that these algorithms have many possibilities to solve large-scale optimization issues.
Also, a meeting was held in this structure to familiarize the guests with the researches conducted at the Applied Mathematics Department of UPC and to discuss opportunities for multilateral cooperation in the future. Prof. Albert Ferrer gave brief information about the university to the guests and spoke about the priority research areas in the department. He gave information about large-scale data analysis (clustering) in the department. The participants discussed opportunities and perspectives that could give a combination of classical and meta-evolution algorithms in this direction. It was noted that hybrid (classic and meta-evolutionary) algorithms can provide positive results in the solution of optimization problems that occur during clustering of large sized data, and joint research in this direction is necessary.
Then the results of the project were discussed, opinions and suggestions were voiced. At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their willingness for joint scientific cooperation and emphasized the importance of joint research and development of projects in the future.
It should be noted that the methods and algorithms acquired as a result of joint research in the future will be used to analyze large volumes of data collected in this environment in order to increase the efficiency of e-governance, detecting new knowledge by analyzing large volumes of data gathered in different objects.
