The methods of probabilistic risk analysis based on the statistical data

The head of department, PhD Yadigar Imamverdiyev made report on the “Development of assessment method of extreme information security risks” at the seminar held at the Institute of Information Technologies”. He informed about the investigation of the distribution laws of costs associated with the elimination of the risk of accidents, incidents and damages of caused by information security. 

The methods of probabilistic risk analysis are based on the statistical data, and the higher statistical data quality is, the more obtained results are valid, he said. 

He touched upon the research hypothesis, and noted that probabilistic characteristics of critical incidents can be determined basing on the extreme values theory, and a number of other characteristics can be predicted on the basis of found probabilistic characteristics. 

The report was discussed and questions were answered.
