A memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Academy of Sciences and the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Republic of Azerbaijan at the Presidium of the on January 29.

Academician Akif Alizadeh, president of ANAS, spoke about the importance of cooperation with the committee. He emphasized the necessity of joint cooperation in the field of education and research, exchange of experience and implementing international projects and activities, training highly qualified young cadres.

Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov spoke about the reforms, laid by the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the diaspora sphere, the successful reforms carried out by President Ilham Aliyev, the state's attention to this area, as well as prospects of cooperation with ANAS institutions.

Academician-Secretary of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences, Academician Ahliman Amiraslanov and vice-presidents of ANAS, academics Isa Habibbeyli, Irada Huseynova, academician-secretary of ANAS, academician Rasim Alguliev emphasized the importance of memorandum playing an important role in increasing the effectiveness of cooperation between enterprises.

Information System “Azerbaijani Scientists’ Diaspora”, prepared by the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS has been also presented at the meeting. It was noted that the information system has collected information about 500 Azerbaijani scholars living and working abroad. The information was obtained in cooperation with the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS, as well as with several state institutions and educational institutions of the country.

Later on, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the parties.

The document provides scientific support for the development of the diaspora and the study of relevant problems, the development of the "Azerbaijani Scientists’ Diaspora" information system, the establishment of relations with Azerbaijani scholars living abroad, organization of joint events, etc. issues are included.
