It is known that the State Program for the implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of Information Society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2016-2020 was approved by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated 20 September 2016. Within the framework of this program, the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan has made a decision on the development of the "Azerbaijani Scientists Diaspora" information system, and the execution of the decision was entrusted to the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS.

At the meeting of the scientific council, the chief specialist of the institute, Afruz Gurbanova, informed about the "Azerbaijani scientists diaspora" information system prepared by the staff of the department. He said that up to now, 500 Azerbaijani scholars living and working abroad have been gathered and posted by the department staff.

Information about scientists was obtained in cooperation with  State Committee on Affairs with the Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan,  Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS, as well as a number of educational institutions of the country .

A.Gurbanova presented the structure of the site and noted that it consists of "Home", "About Us", "Official Documents", "Statistical Indicators", "Useful Links" and "Contacts" sections. He noted that the search for 4 indicators in Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages ​​was made.

The reporter also informed about the site's Statistical Indicators section. She said that statistics on countries, science, and gender affiliated scholars living and working abroad were presented here.

At the end of the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the structure and operation of the "Azerbaijan Scientists Diaspora" information system, and made a number of proposals.
