The report of Department №1 of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS was discussed. The project chief engineer, PhD in technical sciences, associate professor Makrufa Hajirahimova presented the department's annual report for 2017 and gave information about its research activities. He said that this year, a large-scale collection of information has been conducted to investigate the problems of knowledge discovery and to develop effective methods. Anomaly detection model has been developed on security-driven objects based on big data analytics, and existing problems in forming and storing digital heritage and ways to solve them have been investigated.

The reporter said that the key indicators of Big Data were investigated and the existing methodologies for measuring Big data were investigated. Research of current methodologies in forecasting of Big data is being continued. He also underlined that research is being continued on the analysis of Big data visualization problems, studying world experience in Data Science teaching and other topics.

Speaking about the scientific-innovation activity of the department, M.Hacirahimova noted that Scientific-technical expertise of works of the conference "Actual scientific-practical problems of software engineering” has been carried out this year. "Participation in the grant project" Development of methods and algorithms for information security in large data ("big data") environment and their applications”.

Speaking about the department's science metric indicators, the reporter said that 7 reports were published at international and national conferences this year and 9 articles were published in journals indexed in authoritative scientific bases such as EBSCO, Google Scholar, CrossRef, İSPEC (İET). It was reported that 457 references were made to the works of the department staff in 2017.

He also provided information about the scientific-pedagogical and scientific-organizational activities of the department, the preparation of various publications, and promotion of scientific-practical results in mass media.

Finally, the activity of the department was considered satisfactory, questions and suggestions were sounded.
