A meeting was held with doctoral students and dissertators at the Institute of Information Technology of the Ministry of Science and Education.
The event was attended by Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of ANAS and Director General of the Institute; Associate Professor Rashid Alakbarov, Executive Director and PhD in Technology; Associate Professor Farhad Yusifov, Head of the Education Department and PhD in Technology; Narmin Adigozalova, Scientific Secretary of the Institute; as well as doctoral students, dissertators, their academic supervisors, and other relevant individuals.
In his speech at the meeting, Academician Rasim Alguliyev stated that in the modern era, as Azerbaijan enters a new stage of development, the rapid advancement of cutting-edge technologies has evolved into a strategic asset driving the country’s socio-economic and scientific-technological progress. The scientist noted that state strategies encompassing cybersecurity, digital development, and artificial intelligence occupy a central place in the country’s future development model.
The Vice-President of ANAS emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev attaches special importance to developing cooperation with leading countries in the field of artificial intelligence, noting that this direction holds a prominent place among national priorities. Academician Rasim Alguliyev pointed out that recent discussions held within the framework of a unified action plan on "Azerbaijan's New Digital Architecture" serve the systematic organization of digital development across the country.
Touching upon the importance of training personnel in the field of artificial intelligence, Academician Rasim Alguliyev stated that, considering the demands of the labor market, it is essential to prepare specialists with modern knowledge in both higher education institutions and scientific organizations. In this process, one of the key conditions is for young people to continuously work on themselves, enhance their professional skills, and acquire new knowledge.
The Director General also highlighted that, amidst the ongoing digital transformations in the country, providing scientific support to the teaching process in higher education institutions, alongside the training of highly qualified personnel, and active participation in the implementation of knowledge-intensive projects are among the main priorities of the institute.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that continuous reforms are being carried out in this direction at the Institute of Information Technology, stating that the transfer of the institute to the subordination of the Ministry of Science and Education serves to enhance the efficiency of scientific activity. The scholar stated that the President's Decree dated April 4, 2025, "On additional measures related to optimizing the activities and increasing the efficiency of scientific institutions under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan," is of great importance in terms of optimizing the institute's operations.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev emphasized that young researchers constitute the intellectual stratum of society, stating that the responsibilities incumbent upon young people are not limited solely to scientific activity but are also accompanied by the promotion of advanced knowledge and the education of the population. According to the academician, young people should be at the forefront in the formation of an artificial intelligence culture, demonstrating a flexible, mobile, and active position, and should mature as a generation with high intellectual potential that gives hope for the country's future.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev stated that the primary objective of the meeting was the systematic monitoring and objective assessment of the doctoral students' and dissertators' scientific activities. He emphasized that the coordination and purposeful support of young researchers' academic endeavors play a decisive role in enhancing the quality of ongoing research.
The Vice-President of ANAS touched upon the importance of organizing intellectual discussions in various formats and holding scientific seminars dedicated to current issues at the institute. He called on researchers to conduct effective research on topics covering scientific problems of significance for the country.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held regarding the scientific activities of each doctoral student and dissertator, and questions were answered. The event also featured speeches by the scientific supervisors of the doctoral students and dissertators, as well as by scholars and specialists, who offered recommendations to the young researchers and encouraged them to intensify their scientific efforts.
