SABAH students to undertake internship at the Institute of Information Technology

4th-year students of SABAH groups of Baku State University in “Computer Science” will undergo an internship at the relevant departments of the Institute of Information Technology from February 16 to July 3. The main purpose of the internship is to enable students to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical work environment, strengthen the theoretical knowledge they have acquired at the university, and gain the necessary professional experience.

A meeting was held with SABAH students at the Institute of Information Technology of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Opening the event, Associate Professor Rashid Alakbarov, the Institute’s Executive Director, addressed the students and provided detailed information about the Institute’s main areas of activity, the scientific and innovative projects implemented there, and research conducted in priority areas serving the state’s strategic interests. “At the Institute, research is carried out in artificial intelligence, data science, software engineering, natural language processing, cyber-physical systems, digital government, digital healthcare, cybersecurity, deep learning, and big data analytics. The significant scientific results achieved are published in reputable international journals with high citation indexes. At the same time, the Institute actively participates in the implementation of state programs, strategies, roadmaps, and other key government documents,” he stated.

The Executive Director noted that the dissemination of advanced knowledge, its integration into the education system, and the development of intellectual human capital that meets the demands of the modern era, as well as support for young people’s scientific activities, are among the Institute’s key priorities.

During his speech, Associate Professor Rashid Alakbarov touched upon the essence of the unified action plan on “Azerbaijan’s New Digital Architecture,” stating that its primary objective is to establish a unified and integrated digital environment, ensure coordination among government agencies, and strengthen cyber sovereignty.

Associate Professor Rashid Alakbarov noted that as the nature of the labor market gradually changes, new professions are emerging, and the demand for highly qualified specialists in software engineering, computer engineering, data science, and cybersecurity is increasing. He called on the students to continuously enhance their knowledge and skills and to actively engage in scientific research.

Subsequently, Associate Professor Farhad Yusifov addressed the students, advising them to become closely acquainted with the activities of the Institute’s structural units and the research conducted there. He recommended that during their internship, students maintain regular contact with the departments and supervisors to whom they are assigned, enhance their knowledge and skills, and complete assigned tasks on time, and he wished each of them success.
