Academician Rasim Alguliyev appears on podcast during Media Literacy Week

Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of ANAS and Director General of the Institute of Information Technology of the Ministry of Science and Education, participated in a podcast broadcast within the framework of the “Media Literacy” Week, organized by the Media Development Agency. In his speech, the academic spoke about the importance of media literacy in the modern era of rapidly developing information and communication technologies and artificial intelligence. He also addressed new challenges, as well as state policies on disinformation and measures to combat it.

The Vice-President of ANAS stated that in recent years, as a result of the rapid development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, along with new opportunities, serious risks have also emerged in the field of mass media. For this reason, he emphasized that journalists, media representatives, and citizens face serious responsibilities. According to the academician, in modern society media literacy is not only the ability to access information but also the capacity to verify its accuracy and reliability, correctly understand its essence and context, and distinguish harmful and manipulative content.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that digital literacy and information culture form the foundation of media literacy. He stated that handling information correctly, retaining it, and using it purposefully and ethically are integral parts of general culture.
