Scientific-theoretical results of the research conducted toward the improvement of the quality indicators of complex cloud computing systems were presented

The scientific-theoretical results of research conducted within the framework of a dissertation on the topic "Development of methods and algorithms for improving the quality indicators of complex cloud computing systems" were discussed at the scientific seminar held at the Institute of Information Technology under the Ministry of Science and Education.

Associate Professor Rashid Alakbarov, PhD in Technical Sciences and Executive Director of the institute, discussed the results of the research conducted for the dissertation. He stated that a method has been developed to reduce network latency by optimally placing cloud resources intensively used by active user groups on servers closer to them. A clustering method was also developed to ensure the optimal placement of cloud resources in cloudlets, taking into account user activity, the frequency of cloud resource usage, the physical distance between users and cloud resources, and the memory capacity of the cloudlets.

The speaker added that the development of a method for the optimal placement and dynamic management of cloud resources with high access frequency and a large number of users within the Data Processing Center based on the national network infrastructure is also one of the main directions of the research.

Associate Professor R. Alakbarov highlighted his research on developing methods and algorithms for improving the quality indicators of complex cloud computing systems. He noted that an algorithm has been proposed to ensure users connect to cloudlets via a minimal connection channel over a wireless network in an urban environment. Furthermore, a method for cloudlet selection was developed, taking into account the types of application programs to ensure their fast processing. An algorithm has also been proposed to ensure the optimal deployment of a limited number of cloudlets in areas with high mobile user density within a city-wide wireless network environment. ‎

He also emphasized that security problems arising in the components of cloud computing systems have been investigated, and recommendations and mechanisms have been developed within the framework of a layered security model.  The speaker announced that a layered approach has been implemented to resolve security issues in cloud-based cyber-physical systems; existing gaps and potential threats at each level were analyzed in detail, and effective mechanisms and recommendations were presented to eliminate the problems.

Following the presentation, an extensive exchange of views on the results of the dissertation was held, and Associate Professor R. Alakbarov answered the questions addressed to him.

Speaking at the event, Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice President of ANAS and Director General of the Institute of Information Technology under the Ministry of Science and Education, stated that the dissertation is dedicated to the current scientific problems of the modern era. The scientist noted that locating cloud servers in foreign countries creates serious risks for national information security, specifically resulting in additional threats related to cybersecurity, economic security, and data sovereignty. In this regard, conducting the research within the context of cyber sovereignty is of particular importance.

Academician R. Alguliyev emphasized that taking into account the proposals and recommendations voiced at the scientific seminar is of great importance for further deepening the research.
