Institute marked Victory Day and State Flag Day

The Institute of Information Technology under the Ministry of Science and Education held an event dedicated to Azerbaijan's Victory Day and State Flag Day.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of ANAS and Director General of the Institute, addressed the event and congratulated the staff on the occasion of November 8—Victory Day and November 9—State Flag Day. He emphasized that the nationwide celebration of both significant days with great joy and enthusiasm is of paramount importance for strengthening the national unity, allegiance to statehood ideals, and spirit of Azerbaijanism of the people.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev, in his speech, spoke about the military-political crisis that emerged in the country after the First Karabakh War, the issues arising from foreign interference, and the historic role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s return to power in saving the nation during that challenging period. The scientist stated that the great personality's farsighted policy, statehood experience, and leadership qualities saved Azerbaijan from the threat of disintegration, restored stability, and established the foundation for the nation's independent development.

The Director General, stating that this far-sighted policy is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev in line with modern requirements, noted that the head of state's determination and political will have transformed Azerbaijan into a strong regional player, establishing massive international partnerships, and fundamentally revolutionizing army building and national security.

Academician Rasim Aliguliyev stressed that President Ilham Aliyev set strategic and operational tasks for our army from the very first days of the Second Karabakh War, personally monitoring the course of the fighting and leading the struggle both on the frontline and in the information sphere. The information policy managed under his leadership played a vital role in conveying Azerbaijan's rightful position to the world.

The scientist noted that five years ago, on September 27, 2020, in response to Armenia's large-scale military provocations, the Azerbaijani Army launched a counter-offensive along the entire front line on the order of President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev. Our heroic servicemen, repelling the enemy's attacks, achieved a glorious victory in just 44 days, resolving a problem that international organizations and major states had been unable to solve for many years.

The Director General of the institute added that the Peak of Victory in our centuries-old history occurred on November 8, 2020, when the Azerbaijani Army, under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, put an end to Armenia's 30-year occupation. This victory restored historical justice and international law and avenged our martyrs. Azerbaijan demonstrated its strength, unity, and determination to protect its rights to the whole world. According to the academician, President Ilham Aliyev kept his promise to National Leader Heydar Aliyev and his people, achieving victory by believing in our valiant army and his nation. The vice-president of ANAS stated that our people demonstrated an example of national solidarity and fighting spirit by uniting closely around our leader, President Ilham Aliyev.

Academician R. Alguliyev noted that the Second Karabakh War went down in history as a new technological warfare model meeting the demands of the 21st century, stating, "Our army gained a strategic advantage in a short time by widely using modern weapons, unmanned aerial vehicles, and artificial intelligence technologies." This war marked the beginning of a new technological era and was the first battle in the world where artificial intelligence technologies were widely applied in military operations.

The vice-president of ANAS recalled that three years after the Victory, as a result of the local anti-terror measures carried out in the Karabakh region on September 19–20, 2023, the separatist and illegal armed groups operating in the region were completely neutralized. The operation, which lasted only 24 hours and concluded with the full restoration of Azerbaijan's constitutional structure and state sovereignty, was assessed by the scientist as a bright manifestation of the state's political will, the professionalism of the army, and the unity of the people.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev, who also spoke at the event about the historical origin and ideological significance of marking November 9 as State Flag Day, stated that the flag is a symbol of every nation's existence, independence, and national identity. Our tricolor flag, one of the important attributes of our statehood, has always been a source of pride for our people and continues today to embody the fidelity of the Azerbaijani citizen to the state.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev asserted that "greater victories await Azerbaijan ahead," stressing that the high respect and trust shown by world leaders towards President Ilham Aliyev's personality, principled position, peacefulness, and commitment to justice are a clear testament to the country's international prestige. He further noted that the measures being implemented in Azerbaijan for the application of the latest technologies, artificial intelligence, and the development of the digital economy lay the foundation for the nation's future progress and are shaping new realities.

The academician noted that the head of state's vision for strengthening scientific and intellectual potential in this direction is particularly noteworthy.

He recalled that in his speech at the 80th anniversary event of the ANAS, President Ilham Aliyev assigned important tasks to scientists concerning priority areas such as the transformation of the economy and the application of artificial intelligence technologies, stating that the implementation of these instructions will ensure the transition of the country's scientific potential to a new stage of development.

At the event, speeches were also delivered by Professor Masuma Mammadova, Corresponding Member of ANAS and Head of Department at the Institute; Associate Professor Rashid Alakbarov, PhD in Technology and Executive Director of the Institute; Hikmat Guliyev, PhD in Philology and Director of the ANAS Folklore Institute; and Gulnara Nabibayova, PhD in Technology and Head of Department at the Institute. They noted that Victory Day and State Flag Day hold an important place in the history of Azerbaijan and are the embodiment of our people's national pride and statehood traditions. The speakers underscored the decisive role played by the unity of the Azerbaijani people, the glorious Army, and the Commander-in-Chief in strengthening the country's independence, elevating state symbols, and securing the historic victory in the Patriotic War.

At the end of the event, the dear memory of our martyrs was respectfully commemorated, and the eternity of the victory gained thanks to the selflessness and bravery of our heroic sons was emphasized. ‎
