Ministry of Science and Education expands researchers' access to international academic databases

The Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan has provided its scientific institutions, organizations, and higher education institutions with access to the ProQuest Central academic information database, which combines resources from leading global publishers including Springer, Sage, Cambridge University Press, Elsevier, Emerald, and Springer Nature.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev, vice president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Director-General of the Institute of Information Technology under the Ministry of Science and Education, announced this at the institute's Scientific Council meeting. The scholar noted that the Ministry of Science and Education is consistently implementing measures to attract more resources for the development of science and education, train highly intellectual personnel, and provide international scientific database access for the country's research and higher education institutions.

Academician R. Alguliyev stressed the importance of the support provided by the Ministry of Science and Education in expanding the opportunities for scientists and research institutions to integrate into international scientific databases and highly praised the work accomplished. He specifically highlighted the significance of the recent agreement between the State Agency for Science and Higher Education and Clarivate, announcing that the resulting full-text academic information base, ProQuest Central, has been made available for unlimited use by 123 institutions.

The Director-General of the Institute emphasized that this step will significantly contribute to increasing the efficiency and quality of research activities, as well as the integration of scientific results into the international scientific community. Furthermore, the agreement will open up new opportunities for evaluating the performance of scientific institutions and monitoring their research outcomes.

The vice president of the ANAS stated that it is necessary to further increase the usage level of these services among the institute's employees. He noted that ProQuest Central, a multidisciplinary academic information database covering over 100 subjects, is provided together with an artificial intelligence tool called “ProQuest Research Assistant,” which serves to simplify the search and analysis process for scientific articles. According to the academician, access to the ProQuest Central academic database is available both on-site and remotely via corporate email, ensuring accessibility inside and outside the institutions.

Concluding his address, academician R. Alguliyev called upon the institute's scientists and specialists to actively utilize these international resources, deepen their research activities, and contribute to the global recognition of scientific results achieved in our country.
