An awareness event dedicated to the World Day for Decent Work (WDDW) was held at the Institute of Information Technology under the Ministry of Science and Education, organized by the institution's Trade Union Committee. At the event, Anar Samidov, Chairman of the Trade Union Committee, gave a speech and provided information about World Day for Decent Work, which was established in 2008 by the International Trade Union Confederation. He stated that the main purpose of this day, which is held annually on October 7th worldwide, is to protect people's rights and improve working conditions, as well as to mobilize trade unions around the world to take action for the provision of decent work conditions.
A. Samidov also provided information on the work carried out by the Trade Union Committee at the institute in key areas, including protecting the labor, social, and economic rights of employees, improving their social welfare, defending low-income families, ensuring labor discipline, and effectively organizing leisure time for youth.
Then, the institute's chief engineer, Shakir Mehdiyev, took the floor, noting that the World Day for Decent Work highlights issues of human rights, as well as the protection and stimulation of employees' labor, and ensures their physical and mental integrity. He said that the Institute of Information Technology consistently carries out measures to create safe and healthy working conditions for every employee and provides support for the effective resolution of problems and issues faced by staff.
Also speaking at the event were the institute's Chief Researcher, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Zarifa Jabrayilova; Doctor of Philosophy in Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Tofig Kazimov; Department Head, Doctor of Philosophy in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Farhad Yusifov; Senior Researcher Afruz Gurbanova; and others, all of whom shared their views on the goals and objectives of the World Day for Decent Work. They also emphasized that various problems of the institute's employees are being addressed and that organizational work—such as bringing staff together for active participation in the institution's public life—is being carried out at a high level and in a transparent manner.
Finally, discussions were held and proposals were put forward regarding the duties of the institute's Trade Union Committee, individual development opportunities for employees, workplace safety, efficiency wages, and the resolution of social, household, and other problems.
