The Scientific Council of the Institute of Information Technology under the Ministry of Science and Education discussed holding a scientific session titled “Actual Scientific-Theoretical and Practical Problems of Ensuring State Cyber Sovereignty,” which will be dedicated to the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" and International Information Security Day.
Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and Director-General of the institute, provided information and recalled that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan had declared 2025 the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" in the country by a relevant decree. The scientist drew attention to the fact that the extensive application of information and communication technologies across all spheres of society—a key priority of state policy in the country—creates new realities, opportunities, and prospects, as well as grave risks and threats.
Academician R. Alguliyev emphasized that all bodies operating in the country, including scientific institutions and organizations, are contributing to the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" through their respective fields of activity. According to the academic, the Institute of Information Technology is actively participating in the implementation of tasks outlined in the relevant Decree, carrying out measures in that direction. Special attention is being paid at the institute to scientific research concerning various aspects of cyber sovereignty, with the Ministry of Science and Education providing support for these studies.
The Vice-President of the ANAS announced that a scientific session titled "Actual scientific-theoretical and practical problems of ensuring state cyber sovereignty" is scheduled to be held at the institute at the end of November this year to discuss the results of ongoing research into cyber sovereignty and issued instructions for the event's preparation.
