The Institute of Information Technology honored the memory of Patriotic War martyrs

September 27 is observed in Azerbaijan as the Day of Remembrance—a day of national pride and memory.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and Director-General of the Institute of Information Technology under the Ministry of Science and Education, spoke at the Scientific Council meeting regarding September 27—the Day of Remembrance. The scientist noted that this day is of great significance in the centuries-old history of Azerbaijani statehood, has been written in golden letters into the modern history of the Azerbaijani people, and has become a symbol of honor and pride. He stated that on this very day in 2020, in response to Armenia's next military aggression against our country, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, launched the Patriotic War to liberate our occupied territories.

Academician R. Alguliyev noted that the Azerbaijani Army, united by a single purpose, cleared our lands of occupiers step-by-step, thereby ensuring the territorial integrity of our state. He noted that during the 44 days, Azerbaijanis across the world united like a single fist for the sake of the Motherland and demonstrated solidarity in response to the Head of State's calls. Our lands, which had been under occupation for 30 years, were liberated thanks to the unparalleled heroism of our soldiers, the iron will of our officers, and the lives and blood of our martyrs and veterans.

The academic recalled that the local anti-terror measures carried out on September 19-20, 2023, ensured the restoration of our country's full sovereignty as a logical continuation of the Karabakh Victory.

Academician R. Alguliyev stated that after the Second Karabakh War, the Azerbaijani state entered a new stage of development, where reconstruction and restoration work is being carried out in the liberated territories, and modern infrastructure projects are being implemented within the framework of the "Smart City and Village" concept.

"All these achievements are the fruit of the statehood strategy founded by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the consistent and farsighted policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev over the past 20 years", stressed the Vice-President of ANAS.

The academic emphasized the importance of conveying these historical facts and the Victory, which is a source of national pride, to future generations, especially the youth, through various public platforms. He called on the scientists and specialists working at the Institute to further expand their research, contributing to the strengthening of our country's national defense power and its scientific and technological development within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty”.

Concluding his speech, Academician R. Alguliyev prayed for the mercy of Allah for all our martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in the First and Second Karabakh Wars and wished a speedy recovery to our veterans.

Subsequently, the memory of Patriotic War martyrs was honored with a minute of silence.
