Google has demonstrated a new mode of operation for its Google Translate translation system. Now she will be able to process extensive speeches in real-time, such as lectures, speeches by politicians or artists. The basis of the new function is the work of special artificial intelligence - the company asks for lenient attitude to his mistakes while he is studying.
There are two stringent conditions for applying the new option. Firstly, you need an Internet connection with good communication quality, since all the work is done on Google’s servers. Secondly, live speech received through a microphone is subject to processing. This serves as a kind of restriction on the commercial application of the technology - it will be possible to listen to a live or recorded lecture in a foreign language, without subtitles, but not use a translator in movie theaters.
According to techcult.ru, while Google Translate is working, it will compare the words it has heard, take into account the context of sentences, intonation and intuitively place punctuation marks. The work is carried out in real-time, with constantly editing the text, so that incidents are inevitable. But Google promises to cope with them as AI learns on real tasks. So far, the artificial translator has a minimal set of languages: English, German, Spanish and French. The opening date of the service for public access has not yet been determined.
