The new technique, which was introduced by scientists from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, increases the speed of 3D printing from 1 to 10 thousand times.
According to hightech.fm, ultra-accurate 3D printing technology is an important method for the production of precision biomedical and photonic devices. However, this technology is very slow, so researchers from the Department of Engineering and Automation of the Chinese University of Hong Kong have proposed improving and speeding it up.
They solved this problem by accelerating the laser spectrum through time focusing. In this case, the printing process runs in parallel layer by layer, and not point by point. The new technology increases the speed by 1-10 thousand times and reduces the cost of materials by 98%. A description of the technology can be found in the journal Science.
