A research team from Tencent Security X-Lab showed a quick way to hack a smartphone with a fingerprint scanner at an event in China. The whole process takes no more than 20 minutes.
One of the researchers simply scanned the fingerprints left on the glass using the application on the smartphone. After that, he created a physical copy of the fingerprints in 20 minutes, which could fool the scanner on the device.
Experts say that all the hardware necessary for an attack costs about $ 140.
According to the researchers, they were the first to crack an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. But reporters recall that earlier this month, the fingerprint scanner in the Samsung Galaxy S10 was able to deceive with the help of a cheap protective film.
