A quantum chip has appeared, which is a thousand times smaller than analogues

Researchers at the University of Technology in Singapore have developed a quantum chip that is a thousand times smaller than all counterparts. At the same time, the new device can provide more reliable security technology that can be used to protect personal data.

Most security standards used in various fields - from cash withdrawal at an ATM to buying goods on a smartphone - do not use quantum technologies. First of all, due to the fact that the electronic transmission of a personal identification number or password can be intercepted, which creates a security risk.

New tiny chip introduced by researchers from Singapore, uses quantum communication algorithms to provide increased security compared to existing standards. This is achieved by integrating passwords into the supplied information, forming a secure quantum key. After receiving the information, it is destroyed along with the key, which makes this technique an extremely safe form of communication.

This chip requires a thousand times less space than existing quantum communication systems, which can be several meters in size. Therefore, researchers can use this technique in compact devices such as smartphones, tablets and smart watches.

“In the modern world, cybersecurity is very important, since most of our data is stored and transmitted digitally. Almost all digital platforms and repositories require users to enter passwords and biometric data, and while this is the case, they are easy to intercept. Quantum technology eliminates this problem, as the password and information are integrated into the system, ”the scientists noted.
