Gita robot suitcase will follow the owner anywhere

The Italian manufacturer of scooters Vespa has announced the release date and cost of the 2-wheel, self-balancing cargo robot Gita. A mechanized porter, who accompanies its owner everywhere, will go on sale by November 18th. Its price in the USA is $ 3250, writes The Verge.

The novelty was developed by Piaggio Fast Forward, the laboratory of innovative projects of Vespa. Gita is equipped with a cargo compartment of 18 kg and is intended for the transportation of oversized luggage - products, electronics, toys for children and pets.

This model is non-autonomous and does not know how to navigate independently in the environment. For privacy reasons, the Gita follows anyone in front at a speed of up to 10 km / h.

The spherical robot loader is primarily intended for use in urban environments. It works best on hard surfaces such as sidewalks and bike paths. Gita may become stuck in sand, snow or mud. On the stairs, the robotic carrier does not know how to climb. The maximum angle of inclination that he can overcome does not exceed 16 °.

In a companion mobile application, Gita owners can unlock the luggage compartment, check the battery level, and stream audio via Bluetooth. The battery of the device lasts for about 4 hours. It takes about 90 minutes to fully charge.
