Japanese scientists are trying to teach the robot self-awareness

Junichi Takeno, representing Meiji University in Tokyo and specializing in the development of artificial intelligence, talked about what successes have been achieved by mankind in recent times. According to him, work on the creation of machines "with human consciousness" is already underway.

The Japanese professor admitted that so far, science has not guessed all the secrets of the human mind and can not even give it an unambiguous definition. Nevertheless, many actions that until now were considered accessible only to humans and, to some extent, to the “smartest” animals, allegedly, robots have already mastered - the Takeno research group has created mechanisms that can recognize emotions, simulate human actions and even recognize yourself in the mirror. Now, experts are using neural networks to “teach” the robot to experience their own feelings. As noted, the work of such scientists who sought to study human consciousness, such as Edmund Husserl, was used.

Among the recent successes, the expert named a module that is capable of “realizing” what it is doing and capable of not something like solitary human thoughts. Also, specialists have created a complex system of such modules, and work is underway to ensure that such a design is able to express their feelings on their own. Moreover, the scientist referred to by RIA Novosti said that Japanese robotics have already begun assembling a robot with human consciousness.

The expert also added that talking about the "superiority" of artificial intelligence over human will not be possible before robots learn to fully engage in creativity. The specialist also suggested that sci-fi films about machine revolts are unlikely to materialize if the robot is familiar with sympathy and other human emotions of this kind.
