World Robot Conference kicks off in China

The 2019 World Robot Conference, which takes place in Beijing from August 20 to 25, presents the latest developments.

The conference presented a number of exhibition sites for new robots, samples of robotics and products, including medical devices and neural networks. The conference also planned four contests with an estimated 4,500 professional participants. More than 700 robots specializing in more than 21 industrial applications will be presented from the beginning to the close of the conference.

One of the conference participants is the SmartBird robot bird, developed by the German company Festo. An ordinary seagull inspired the creation of a development robot. The ultralight flying drone has the best aerodynamics and maximum flexibility. It is able to take off, fly and land completely autonomously, consumes only 23 watts of energy, and weighs 450 grams with a wingspan of 2 meters. Another robot on display will be Laikago, a development by the Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics. The robot is named after the dog Laika, the world's first animal, which was sent into space in 1957. Its length is 0.56 meters and a width of 0.35 meters. The robot weighs 22 kilograms, can work for 2-3 hours after fully charged, and if desired, it can be folded into a suitcase.
