California-based startup Sierra Energy introduced FastOx technology, which is designed for total garbage disposal. Waste of all kinds can not only be guaranteed to be destroyed without harm to the environment, but also to get raw materials from them, which can be used in many ways.
The technology involves the construction of a similarity of a modified metallurgical blast furnace instead of an incineration chamber. To accelerate the combustion process, pure oxygen is injected into it, and the temperature reaches 2200 - twice as much as in the vent of a volcano. This heat evaporates garbage, causes it to decompose into the simplest components - hydrogen and carbon monoxide.
Gases can be pumped out and put into action, using in power engineering or manufacturing of fertilizers. Metals that do not evaporate will melt and separate from the rest of the components, becoming ready to be recycled. All dangerous germs, expired drugs, toxins, etc. - everything will be destroyed by high temperatures. After burning, even ash will not remain, except for quite a bit - and therefore this technology will help to cope with huge garbage dumps around the world.
