Algorithms today help diagnose diseases and select treatment. In the future, their role in medicine will only increase - for example, they will be able to independently develop medicines. The first example of this kind was presented by scientists from Australia - a vaccine for influenza, developed on the basis of the recommendations of AI.
A team from Flinders University used the artificial intelligence SAM, designed to analyze a huge number of molecules. At the first stage, the algorithm loaded data on substances that activate the human immune system. The task of the AI was to understand what exactly distinguishes the working connections from the non-working ones.
The experiment showed that the compounds proposed by SAM increase the effectiveness of the flu vaccine much better than all the analogues known today. In the near future, the researchers intend to confirm the efficiency of the new vaccine in humans.
