GEANT team visited Institute of Information Technology of ANAS

Today, GEANT's international project manager Veronika Di Luna, Research Engagement officer Chris Atherton, procurement specialist Rita Mažeikaitė got acquainted with the conditions created at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS. The meeting was attended by Head of International Relations Department of the Institute of Information Technology, Ph.D. Babak Nabiyev, Chief Specialist of the Institute's 4th Department Tural Mustafayev and other responsible persons.

Babak Nabiyev, about the activities of the institute and noted that the Institute carries out research on  Big Data analytics, cybersecurity, Data mining, electronic medicine, cloud technologies, software engineering, electronic science and other fields.

Noting that access to the Internet was first implemented at the institute in Azerbaijan in 1991, he informed about the AzScienceNet network of the institute, which has great opportunities for the integration of science and education in the country.

B. Nabiyev spoke in detail about the Institute's Innovation Training Center, where all Ph.D. students in the republic are trained.

Then the guests got acquainted with the conditions created at the institute, the Scientific Center, the Distant Center and the Electronic Library Center, the publishing house "Information Technologies" and the Internet cafe.

Veronika Di Luna praised the innovative conditions created at the institute, in particular, the potential of AzScienceNet. The guest noted that Azerbaijan, including the Institute of Information Technology, has great opportunities to join European projects in the field of science and education, said it was interested in continuing joint cooperation and called on our country to participate more closely in GEANT projects.
