There is no need to hurry with the development of the 5G communications network in Russia. This was stated by Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group, in an interview with NSN, commenting on the launch of network testing in seven cities in China.
Mass deployment of 5G is not and is unlikely to be expected. Therefore, to say that we need to hurry and run 5G here and now is not worth it, ”he said.
The expert noted that, in general, he considers the 5G network to be the technology of the future, and in the coming years, test zones will appear in Russia, but so far telecom operators have no idea how to make money on this, and the necessary equipment is expensive. At the same time, Murtazin assured that the launch of 5G will not lead to a rise in the cost of communication services.
“There are just new features that were not available before. 5G, in addition to higher data transfer speeds, has a sublayer that is responsible for the Internet of Things, a smart city, ”explained the specialist. He clarified that one base station can connect up to 1 million devices per square kilometer, so in the future, it is possible to build fundamentally other information systems.
Chinese communications giant China Unicom launched a 5G test communications network in seven cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Xiongyan Economic Zone.
On April 19, it was reported that Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov asked President Vladimir Putin to give instructions for the introduction of 5G in Russia.
