Russian doctors started testing a device that will help people who have had a stroke to type phrases on the computer with an effort of thought. This was announced by the executive director of the sectoral union of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) "NeuroNet" Alexander Semenov.
The device was named Neurocate and is a software and hardware complex, neuro headset and a special interface. The wireless headset is attached to the patient's head, the alphabet is projected on the screen. The patient is asked to concentrate on the conceived letter that he sees on the screen and thus type the text.
According to Semenov, the first experimental batch has already been sent to a number of Russian rehabilitation centers. “According to our forecast, serial production will begin in late spring and early summer,” RIA Novosti quotes him. Semenov noted that in the future the device could be used both in industry and in the entertainment industry.
Russian development has already received the CES Asia award as one of the most interesting and promising products. In March, the project is planned to be presented at the European Neuro Convention in the UK on neurotechnology conferences.
