ElliQ Robot is designed specifically for the elderly

The Israeli company Intuition Robotics presented at the CES-2019 exhibition the ElliQ intelligent system designed specifically for the elderly. Most of them face, to varying degrees, social exclusion, since they cannot lead an active life and experience age-related health problems. For this, Elliq was created - the robot can create an additional social circle and will provide all possible assistance in organizing leisure activities.

ElliQ consists of three modules. Basic, stationary, serves as a docking station for the second, mobile, in the form of a tablet. They largely duplicate each other and are designed to maintain constant contact with the user. For this, a set of video cameras and microphones is mounted on each, there are motion sensors and speakers for playing music and speech. The third module is the “head” on the stand, which turns and bends, reacting to the user's voice and imitating the attentive interlocutor during the conversation.

ElliQ robot can understand voice commands and maintain dialogue. He can read a letter, a news note, tell a joke, make a riddle, voice quiz data and even argue about an event - if the necessary information is available in the database. The main task of the system is to recognize situations where an elderly person is idle and bored to be able to intervene. However, he knows how to distinguish an afternoon nap from a nap and will not give an audible signal about an incoming letter if the person is resting.

Relatives can set up ElliQ to remind retirees when it is time to take medicine or go for a walk. In addition, he performs almost the whole range of functions of a typical voice assistant, optimized for content for the older generation. Worth it is not cheap - the system itself will cost $ 1,499 and up to $ 50 a month will be the price of a mandatory subscription.
