Apple is planning to release a new iPod Touch and iPhone with USB-C

Apple engineers are working to transition the gadgets on the USB connector.

Sources in Japan believe that the USB type-C will appear in the iPhone in 2019 or 2020.

Therefore, the iPhone will be the first iOS devices with the same connector after the new iPad Pro.

A source in the supply chain says that Apple engineers are working to transition the gadgets on USB type-C, but has not yet reached the stage of a reference design means that it the connector is not likely to appear in 2019.

The source suggests that Apple may switch to USB-C in 2019 for both iPhone and iPad. Macotakara says that he has a recording of the conversation with this source.

The same source says that Apple will almost certainly relies on technology, which declined from a few years ago: a portable MP3 player.

The latest iPod Touch released in 2015, costs $199 for 32 GB of memory, and still for sale. As for the other models, the Nano and Shuffle managed to hold on until 2017.

According to several vendors that were at CES 2019, the novelty will receive a larger display (in the current model it’s 4″) and Touch ID, but I leave the Apple 3.5 mm earphone Jack – is unknown.

Theoretically, such a device is a great way for Apple to continue building up the client base. The increase in the number of owners of iOS-gadgets means that more users will be able to pay for iCloud storage, Apple Music subscription, and use App Store and iTunes Store.
