Methods for managing information security incidents have been investigated

Next scientific seminar of Department № 2 of Institute of Information Technology of ANAS was held. The magistrate of the Institute- Elshan Bagirov presented the report on the topic of the master's thesis and gave information about the relevance of the topic, the purpose of the work and the issues put forward, the structure and the case study.

E.Bagirov pointed out that during the current period information assets plays an important role in the organizations, attacks on information systems and the number and frequency of incidents have been noticeably increased every year and statistical figures prove that. The rapporteur stressed that incidents could lead to problems such as financial loss in institutions, unauthorized access to systems and services, and damaging the reputation of organizations.

He said that the subject of the research consists of the necessity to develop operational management mechanisms for incidents to prevent incidents or to quickly and efficiently eliminate the consequences of the incidents.

Then, the essence of the research conducted on each of the provisions issued and the main scientific findings were noted. The reporter clarified the role of CERT teams in the management of information security incidents, clarifying the methodology of predicting the proposed workload for CERT teams using the incidents ticketing system. He also presented the results of experiments on application of incidents management metrics and their importance, the use of intellectual analysis of data on incidents tickets and the results of each separate assessment of the applied method.

At the end of the lecture the exchange of views was held, numerous questions were answered, proposals and recommendations were sounded. By the decision of the seminar, it was recommended that the dissertation be brought to defense, taking into consideration the proposals and suggestions.
