Scientific and theoretical findings of the research on the Internet of Things discussed

01 Mai 2018 - 11:00 | Conferences, assemblies

The next scientific seminar was held at the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS. Academician-secretary of ANAS, director of the institute, academician Rasim Alguliev informed the guests about the agenda. The event was dedicated to the discussion of the scientific and theoretical results of research on the Internet of Things.

Then, a senior research fellow, PhD Mammad Hashimov, presented the report, adding that access to the Internet network of household appliances, electrical appliances, vehicles, manufacturing facilities, medical supplies, security and surveillance systems is a part of the Internet of Things - IoT).

He said that the term was widely used after the International Telecommunication Union's analytical group's report on Internet status in 2005 and said the first international scientific conference on EU was held in 2008. According to him, in 2010, the number of things connected to the network for the first time in history has exceeded the world population and amounted to 1.84 per person per person. According to Cisco's predictions, the number of things that have been added by 2020 will reach 50 billion.

The emergence of intelligent devices, increased telecommunication capabilities, cloud, and Big Data technologies have led to rapid development of the United States, -he noted.  He said the Internet of Things was applying for agriculture, oil and gas sector, cities and "smart" homes, shopping malls, as well as people.

The Internet of Things should have the ability to link billions of objects over the Internet. "For this, flexible architectural levels are needed”, - Mr.Mammadav noted.  He pointed out that each level was identified through its functions and the devices used at this level. He talked about the price of sensors on years, temperature and humidity sensor, medical sensor, network sensor and level sensor levels. He said that the sensors are experiencing energy problems, physical exposure, electronic waste, and so on.

Then, M.Hashimov talked about the existing shortcomings of the Internet of Things . Here includes the absence of any international standards for equipment engagement and monitoring, the development of technology, automation with the use of AI in daily activities, reduced human intervention, increasing control over our technology and other factors.

Later, the reporter spoke on security issues.  It is very easy to attack 70 percent of AI devices, so there is a need for an effective mechanism to make the devices connected to the Internet against attacks, he noted.

At the end of presentation, the reporter informed about the conferences and magazines published in the field of AM. He also talked about the advantages of interaction of Internet of Things with fog, dew, Big Data and cloud technology.
