Google plans to launch a project to preserve historical monuments using the latest technology. Soon, the network will already have the first 3D models of known buildings.
The project, called "Open Heritage", the company develops together with the NCA CyArk on the basis of the application "Google Arts & Culture". Three-dimensional models will be created using laser scanners, after which they will be loaded into the application database. Access to the archive of 3D-models will be possible both through the mobile application, and from desktops through the Internet.
According to the developers, modern technologies allow us to capture in detail historical values. 3D models will transmit even the smallest details like color and texture.
