Harm to smoking will be shown in augmented reality

Augmented reality (augmented reality) - a technology that allows you to superimpose additional elements on the real image of the surrounding world. The first systems of augmented reality appeared in the early 1990s. Today, technology is used in many areas. Most often you can hear about its use in military equipment or computer games. In addition, it simplifies the work of emergency services, "revitalizes" educational materials for children, adds volume to book illustrations.

Scientists from Birmingham University used visualization of medical technologies to create a learning project based on augmented reality. In the world there are several such projects. Most often they are created for students of medical faculties. These are virtual anatomical atlases and simulators, on which it is possible to practice the technology of performing operations.

The development of scientists from the University of Birmingham is not only for doctors, but also for patients. The basis of the project is 3D models of the human body and individual organs. Using motion sensors, the doctor can move and rotate the model. Individual parameters can be applied to the model, for example, the experience of smoking a patient. According to the developers, the project will allow the patient to see how his body is affected by bad habits. Also, a physician can model the effect of a particular operation on the patient's body.
