Stephen Hawking warns artificial intelligence could end mankind

Prof Stephen Hawking, one of Britain's pre-eminent scientists, has said that efforts to create thinking machines pose a threat to our very existence.

Hawking spoke at the Global Mobile Internet Conference in Beijing. He believes that artificial intelligence will help solve a lot of human problems. But the wrong approach to technology development can lead to people's degradation. A man will lose in the struggle for survival.

''The development of artificial intelligence can become both the most positive and the most terrible factor for mankind. We must be aware of the danger that he represents, "the scientist said.

According to hi-tech.mail.ru Hawking often speaks in public with such statements. The scientist in 2014 reported that a full-fledged artificial intelligence could mean an end to humanity. And six months ago he said that people will not survive if they do not leave the Earth for 1000 years.
