"Horizon 2020" is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme

The head of the International Relations Department of the Institute of Information Technology, PhD Vugar Musayev informed about this at the meeting of Scientific Council of the Institute. Horizon 2020 is the financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed at securing Europe's global competitiveness.

The main objective of the program is to strengthen the  position of  the European Union  in science, technology and innovation  fields, he said. Excellence in science, leadership in industry and social issues are  the main aspects of project, he noted.

Information and communication technology (ICT) is one of the most important area in H2020. Projects  such as  advanced computing technologies, cloud computing, Internet of the future, content-related technologies, Internet of Things  Within the framework of ICT and  leadership in industry were carried out.

According to him, 275.841 applications from  European Union countries have been recorded the last 2 years.

V.Musayev also informed about application to H2020 program and important Web sites, project samples.

Highlightining the importance of report, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, director of the Institute of Information Technology, academician Rasim Alguliyev stated that, "Horizon 2020" has great potential in terms of integration of  institute's colleagues to international science  community,conduction of researches  at  high level and establishment  new cooperation. Also, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh  emphasized the importance of participation in this project and called experts to participate in international grant projects.
