That’s the promise of a new product launched today by Evena Medical, a Silicon Valley based imaging technology firm. Created in partnership with Epson, Evena’s new Eyes-On Glasses System enables medical professionals to essentially peer underneath a patient’s skin in order to more easily locate veins for IV treatments. The product, Evena boasted today in a statement, is "one of the first healthcare applications of smart glasses commercially available on a global scale.
For some patients , finding an appropriate vein to sample blood or set up an intravenous drip can be a difficult and painful process. Evena Medical has developed a new piece of technology that can help healthcare professionals with their needles by seeing under your skin! Using a modified version of Epson's Moverio VR headset, Evena has designed their Eyes-On smart glasses to overlay a 3D map of the patient's blood vessels on their skin, which allows the nurse or doctor to hit their target with far more accuracy. The glasses can even connect to a hospital's network and access medical records, allowing hospitals to send and recieve medical information with greater efficiency.
