In the port city of Baltimore (USA) a floating robot scavenger is operating. Using the energy from the solar panels located on the roof, and the power of the sea currents, rotating wheel-type mill, the boat runs along the harbor and filters out any debris that carries the river flowing through the city into the ocean. Once a day "catch" is removed and sent for recycling, incineration or landfill. Over 2015 collected 118,670 plastic bottles and 2.6 million cigarette butts.
According to some estimations, the oceans are now floating about 270 thousand tons of plastic waste and fragments.
