Automated Summarization Assessment Algorithm has been developed

As is known, scientists and experts of the Institute of Information Technology of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences are constantly conducting researches with scientists from well-known institutes and organizations.

Recently, the article “An Automated summarization Summarizing Assessment Algorithm for Identifying Strategies by the scientists from University of Malaya (Malaysia) Asad Abdi and Norisma Idris and Director of the Institute, academician Rasim Alguliyev and DSc. Ramiz Aliguliyev, has been  published in journal PLOS ONE (impact factor - 3.234).

The article highlights the importance of the summarization in terms of better understanding of the text, which is interesting for the teachers teaching summarization writing with the direct guidelines. Automated review and assessment of the summarization written by the students may help teachers to perform this work more effectively.

Furthermore, the article offers a hybrid algorithm considering semantic proximity of the words and syntactic structure of the sentences to determine the summarization strategies of the summaries written by the students. The main novelty of this algorithm is that it identifies summarization strategies in syntactic and semantic levels.

Note that the articles dedicated to the methods to improve the quality of summarization by the scientists of the institute and the University of Malaya (Malaysia) have been published in the journals Soft Computing and Information Processing & Management.
