Scientific degrees to be given by the universities

Since 2016, the scientific degrees of Doctor of Science and doctors in philosophy will be given by Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University. In this regard, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science has made amendments to the law on the "Science and state scientific and technical policy" and "Moscow State University after M.V.Lomonosov and St. Petersburg State University"

Also, educational institutions have been given the right to approve the scientific degrees independently, to confirm the appropriate forms of diplomas, to create dissertation board and to define their responsibilities, and to restore or to cease their activity, to cancel the degrees, and so on.
