Samsung has showcased its SSD with a capacity of 16 TB. The drive was revealed during the Flash Memory Summit held in California.
The Korean electronics manufacturer appears to be able to put a large number of these chips in a 2.5″ form-factor. In order to get to the 15,360 GB (15.36TB) capacity, there need to be 480 chips of 32GB in the PM1633a drive.
To make storage fans drool, Samsung also demonstrated a server with 48 of these SSDs with a combined storage capacity of 768 TB. The system would be able to achieve up to 2,000,000 IOPS.
