Cloud DX: First working tricorder prototype for XPrize revealed March 30, 2015 | 04:00 / Technological innovations

The tricorder is like a medical diagnostic magic wand; it was assumed to be fictional, until now. The Cloud DX is the first prototype to be revealed for the Tricorder XPrize competition. The device is designed to diagnose 15 different medical conditions and can monitor vital signs for 72 hours.

The first piece, a collar attached to an earpiece, is a vital monitoring system that measures blood pressure, respiration, electrocardiogram, pulse rate, blood oxygen saturation, and core body temperature.

The second component is a base station with a smartphone or tablet display that serves as a hub for collected information and connects to a cloud-based system that provides analysis of the results.
