The tech giant invented a laptop powered by solar energy. The patent application notes that the device can also be charged by artificial light.
Microsoft showed the concept of a laptop that is charging from solar energy. The novelty may replenish the Surface Pro line.

According to korrespondent.net, the device was submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the second half of 2018, but it only appeared on the organization’s website in January 2020.

According to the description and diagram, on the back of the laptop, the company's engineers placed photocells that connect to the device’s battery.

Solar panels will be able to recharge batteries during battery life, when the laptop is not connected to the mains. The patent says that not only solar, but also artificial light, for example, from incandescent lamps, is suitable for recharging.

The developers thought over the design - if desired, the user can easily hide the panel in the body of his laptop.

How long it will take to recharge the device is not reported.

Experts do not exclude that solar-powered laptops may appear in the next generation of laptops from Microsoft.
