Quantum Technology Alliance Created December 30, 2019 | 11:45 / Interesting information

Quantum computers and related technologies are increasingly becoming the protagonists of the news. Trying to accelerate the development of a promising direction, scientists from leading institutes and universities announced the creation of an alliance on quantum computing.

According to 4pda.ru, the Quantum Information Edge Alliance will head the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories. The alliance was also joined by the University of Maryland, Duke University, Harvard University, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Berkeley, the California Institute of Technology, the Lincoln Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of New Mexico.

“We are on the verge of significant progress in quantum informatics. Quantum Information Edge will accelerate quantum research and development while seeking solutions in a wide range of fields of science and technology, ”said Irfan Siddiki, director of Berkeley’s advanced quantum test bench.

Quantum Information Edge is also expected to help increase the return on investment in quantum research. The organization's tasks include the construction of complete quantum systems, rather than individual components, to create new scientific opportunities in information processing. The emphasis is on the use of quantum computers to speed up real computing, rather than demonstrating their theoretical capabilities.
